Victorian State Youth Brass Band

Since 1978

Give the gift of music this Christmas

We give children and youth the gift of love for brass music that helps open doors as they pass from school into the world around them - a world of work, culture, intellectual activity, and human involvement.

Since 1978 the Victorian State Youth Brass Band has welcomed children and youth from all walks of life to come together each month and for one week each year to play, grow and share music together.

What do we do?

We bring up to 50 children and youth - representing over 25 bands - together once a month and once a week each year to make and share music.

We are the only youth brass band of this type in Australia keeping brass music alive for children and youth.

Why are we collecting funds?

For all our children and youth to come together every month and for one week in January to play music, to laugh, to share, to grow and to perform.

Our youth need your gift, we will take care of the rest.

How will the funds be used?

You can help keep brass music alive for the children and youth of Victoria:
  • $2 is a gift we can use
  • $5 pays for one band member's lunch at our monthly rehearsal
  • $20 pays for one band member's camp t-shirt
  • $50 pays towards the fuel costs for our youth to travel to camp and monthly practice sessions
  • $500 pays for a disadvantage member to join the camp
  • $800 pays for a camp t-shirt for all members with your logo on it. This t-shirt will be used at many performances throughout the year.
  • $1000 will go towards sponsoring a high quality brass instrument (can cost up to $20,000)
  • Other gifts will subsidise the camp cost and bus costs to travel from Bright to Ballarat for a concert on 16 January 2015.

What will we give you in return for your gift?

We will give the gift of our music to you at an annual concert in Melbourne. Visit our website for details.

Are donations tax deductible? Yes

Will I receive a receipt for my donation?

Sad News

Dear members, parents, friends, and supporters of the Victorian State Youth Brass Band,

It is with regret that we inform you that Wally Pope, Jeff Steel, and Bruno Andrade will be resigning from their respective positions of Musical Director, Assistant Musical Director, and Band Manager at the conclusion of this year’s annual camp.

We wish to thank Wally Pope, Jeff Steele and Bruno Andrade for all their work with the VSYBB. Their efforts and achievements over the last 6 years can be seen in the strength of the youth movement in Victorian banding, highly successful tours abroad, and the enthusiasm instilled on the next generation of young musicians in Victoria. We are sad to see them leave and wish them all the best for their future endeavours

Thank you for all your hard work, Wally, Jeff, and Bruno.
